Kingman Regional Medical Center came to Specbee looking for a reliable Drupal partner. Their site had security gaps, a dated visual design, and a content editing experience that made routine updates harder than they needed to be. What started as a support engagement turned into a full site overhaul - a Drupal 11 upgrade, a complete redesign, and a smarter content editing setup that their team could use effectively.
The Client
Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) is the largest healthcare provider in northwest Arizona and the only remaining non-profit hospital in Mohave County. As a regional institution serving a large rural population, they needed a digital platform that was secure, accessible, and easy for their team to maintain.
Our work at a glance:
Full website redesign and implementation
Drupal 10 to Drupal 11 upgrade
Canvas integration that freed content editors from developer dependency
The challenge: A dated platform holding back a growing healthcare provider
Security and maintenance concerns: Without a dedicated team of Drupal experts keeping the site current, the risk of a security breach was a constant concern. For a medical center with patient-facing systems, that was not a risk they could afford.
A design that didn't reflect their story: The outdated design didn't communicate KRMC's standard of care or connect with the community they serve. The site needed to feel as considered as the care behind it.
Content editing friction: Creating and updating content became a chore. Editors had to work around the platform rather than with it, which made keeping healthcare information accurate and current a slow process.
The approach: A redesign built around real editorial needs
Modernizing the platform
Specbee upgraded the site from Drupal 10 to Drupal 11 and addressed the security remediation needed to get the platform on a solid footing. The upgrade gave the team a more stable, current foundation to build on.
A redesign that fits the organization
After several collaborative working sessions with the Specbee design team, KRMC signed off on a fresh, professional design that better represents the hospital. Implementation moved quickly, with no pushback from the client on delivery. Accessibility was treated as a core requirement throughout, not an afterthought, given that KRMC's digital platform needs to work for everyone in their community.
Simpler content management with Canvas
Canvas was introduced to make content creation and editing more manageable. Editors can now update healthcare information without fighting their CMS. The KRMC team found it to be one of the most meaningful outcomes of the project.
What changed: A stronger digital foundation for a community hospital
A manageable digital platform: Content creation and editing are faster and less frustrating. KRMC's team can keep their site current without the friction that slowed them down before.
Strong accessibility and best practices scores: The redesigned site scored well on accessibility and technical best practices - the right outcome for a medical center whose platform needs to work for everyone.
A design the client is proud of: The team at KRMC was happy with how the website turned out. That reflects a design process that listened and a delivery that held up.
Ongoing partnership: Since the website launch, Specbee continues to provide consultation and maintenance services, with an upcoming project to add a careers and recruiting section to the site.
