The Client

Wadsworth Center, a part of the New York State Department of Health, focuses on supporting various research programs. Their website acts as an educational hub and offers insights into funding opportunities.

The Goal: Their goal was to upgrade their current Drupal 7 website to the latest version, Drupal 10. They also wanted to improve responsiveness and simplify content management by refining their content architecture.

  • A smooth transition from D7 to D10 without affecting user logins or the overall look
  • Simplifying content types for easier management
  • Boosting performance, enhancing responsiveness and improving accessibility standards compliance
  • Creating custom migration modules for a seamless process
  • Introducing custom features and refining search functionality for a better user experience

The Challenge: Suboptimal existing d7 architecture with redundant content types

  • Managing numerous content types with similar structures was a major hurdle for the Wadsworth team in creating or modifying content.
  • Our primary goal was to streamline the site's structure by reducing content types, allowing for more diverse categories within each, and grouping related ones together.
  • This project required a customized migration involving custom code and YAML files, along with custom processors, to ensure data integrity and precision despite the migration's complexities.

The Approach: Custom migration with logical content type consolidation

  • Our team consolidated various content types strategically to streamline content management
We improved the test catalog feature by allowing CSV file uploads for updated records, enhancing efficiency and user experience.
  • Refinement of the search function was necessary for better relevance and filtering options. This approach improved the site's overall usability, making it simpler to find pertinent information.
  • Furthermore, we provided ongoing support to tackle any issues post-launch, guaranteeing a smooth migration with positive outcomes.
